Aims & Scope
The Zeitschrift für Ostmitteleuropa-Forschung / Journal of East Central European Studies (ZfO) is a leading open access journal for historical studies on East Central Europe, edited by an independent, internationally composed panel of renowned scholars. The ZfO has appeared with an English parallel title since 2017 and, since 2019, in addition to the print edition, also in open access. It publishes original contributions on the history and culture of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Belarus, as well as on innovative methodological and conceptual approaches to the history of East Central Europe as a whole. The ZfO publishes articles, research reports, and book reviews quarterly in German and English. All manuscripts intended for publication are subject to a double-blind review process.
