Aims & Scope

Elementa: Intersections between Philosophy, Epistemology and Empirical Perspectives was born with the aim of being a container focused on interdisciplinary contributions of a philosophical, pedagogical, sociological and historical nature. In particular, the journal integrates theoretical and empirical studies. First section Elementa considers the history of philosophy, history of ideas and epistemology as essential parts of the contemporary discourse about humanities. It not only publishes studies and researches carried out on individual authors or on particular themes and debates, but also welcomes long-term investigations, aimed at reconstructing the historical persistence of models and arguments in the framework of different traditions and disciplines, and in their pedagogical and didactic effects. The chronology considered by Elementa includes the entire history of philosophy, history of ideas and epistemology - from ancient to contemporary thought. Second section Education and experimental studies represent the pragmatical and applicative element referred to the theoretical reflections in the journal's first section. The aim of Elementa is to spread ideas on which to reflect, and to confront both the theoretical elaboration and the practical realization of the themes with which the journal deals. Specifically, it will try to build a bridge between theorical formulations and practical and educational applications. The journal’s recipients comprise an expert audience characterized by teachers, trainers and scholars of the aforementioned disciplines. The methodology used follows an interdisciplinary logic as prescribed in the international scientific literature, in order to offer a high scientific profile and propose updated and scientifically valid contents to the journal's readers. Elementa publishes original articles written in English and supported by abstracts written in Italian and English. The issues considered also refer to: - History and methodology of philosophical research; - Philosophical components of educational research; - Intercultural education; - Innovative teaching methodologies; - Empirical-experimental didactic research; - Theory and history of education; - Didactic-educational technologies and distance learning; - Lifelong learning and continuing education; - Evaluation of and within education systems; - Curriculum theory and disciplinary teaching; - Basic research on affective and cognitive processes.
