Aims & Scope

TheSwiss Journal of Sociocultural Anthropologyis the peer-reviewed, open-access journal of theSwiss Anthropological Association, dedicated to current issues and debates in anthropology. It was established in 1996 as a successor to Ethnologica Helvetica (1979-1996). The online edition is published byBern Open Publishing, the print issue is published bySeismo Press. The journal publishes ethnographically and theoretically grounded contributions on current issues and debates in social anthropology. It is dedicated to the development and critical discussion of novel theorisations of anthropological concepts. As a tri-lingual journal with articles in English, French, and German, it seeks to strengthen the dialogue between different theoretical strands and scholarly traditions. Its wide thematic scope encourages conversations across the discipline and between the various subfields of anthropology. TheSwiss Journal of Sociocultural Anthropologypublishes original research articles, contributions in audio-visual anthropology, shorter essays about on-going research, as well as book and film reviews. Research Articlescontribute to contemporary debates in social and cultural anthropology. The journal especially welcomes contributions exploring novel ways of theorising anthropological concepts as well as articles dealing with overlooked topics that are firmly rooted in ethnographic data.
