The journal of History of Islamic Philosophy ( HIP ) is a peer-reviewed scholarly publication established in the spring of 2022 by the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities, Ale-Taha Institute of Higher Education. The journal is dedicated to promoting rigorous academic inquiry into the philosophical traditions that have developed within the Islamic intellectual context, spanning from the early Islamic centuries to contemporary thought. The primary aim of HIP is to serve as a dynamic and inclusive intellectual platform for national and international scholars to share original research, critical analyses, and new interpretations in the field of Islamic philosophy. The journal seeks to advance understanding of the historical evolution, key figures, core concepts, and enduring significance of Islamic philosophical traditions. It also aims to foster dialogue between Islamic philosophy and other philosophical traditions, particularly Western philosophy, as well as to explore the relevance of Islamic philosophical insights to contemporary theoretical and practical challenges. By publishing high-quality research, HIP aspires to elevate the academic status of Islamic philosophy both within Iran and globally, encouraging interdisciplinary engagement and contributing to the broader field of global philosophical discourse. The journal covers a broad and diverse range of topics within the field of Islamic philosophy, including but not limited to: The historical development of Islamic philosophy from the classical to the modern periods Philosophical thought of major Islamic thinkers and schools of thought Comparative studies between Islamic philosophy and other traditions (e.g., Greek, Western, Persian, Indian) Interdisciplinary research informed by Islamic philosophical perspectives in areas such as ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, political philosophy, theology, and science Critical analyses of Western philosophical traditions from an Islamic philosophical standpoint Reinterpretations and contemporary applications of classical Islamic philosophical ideas HIP welcomes original, unpublished research articles, review essays, and critical discussions that contribute significantly to the study and understanding of Islamic philosophy. The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence and encourages submissions from scholars across disciplines who are engaged in the exploration of Islamic philosophical heritage and its modern implications.
