Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 June 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using PubScope (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you accept these terms for that organisation.

2. What PubScope provides

PubScope is an academic journal intelligence platform: AI-ranked journal recommendations, indexing and quartile verification, a Trust Score, integrity signals, and comparison tools, built on open scholarly data. It is an informational aid — not a guarantee of acceptance, indexing status, or journal quality, and not a substitute for your own due diligence.

3. Data accuracy & “as is”

We aggregate third-party open data and work to keep it accurate, but the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. Metrics, indexing, and risk signals can be incomplete or out of date; predatory/risk indicators are verifiable signals to help you judge, not a verdict about any journal. Always verify critical decisions against a journal’s official sources before submitting.

4. Accounts & eligibility

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials and API key confidential, and for activity under your account. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract our data; resell or redistribute the data or expose it through a competing service; reverse-engineer or disrupt the Service; bypass rate limits, access controls, or security; or use the Service unlawfully. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

6. Pro subscriptions & payments

Paid plans are billed through our merchant of record, Polar.sh, on the cycle shown at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Prices may change with notice, and taxes may apply. Refunds are handled per Polar.sh’s policies and applicable law.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, its design, and our compiled database and Trust Score are owned by PubScope. Underlying bibliographic facts come from open third-party sources and remain subject to their licences. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your own research and publishing decisions.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PubScope is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions made based on the Service (including where you submit your work). Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Changes & contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, a notice. Continued use means you accept the updated terms. Questions? Email [email protected].
