Aims & Scope
About the Journal Caryologia. International Journal of Cytology, Cytosystematics, and Cytogenetics Caryologia is devoted to the publication of original papers, and occasionally of reviews, about plant, animal, and human karyological, cytological, cytogenetic, embryological, and ultrastructural studies. Articles about the structure, the organization, and the biological events relating to DNA and chromatin organization in eukaryotic cells are considered. Caryologia has a strong tradition in plant and animal cytosystematics and in cytotoxicology. Bioinformatics articles may be considered, but only if they have an emphasis on the relationship between the nucleus and cytoplasm and/or the structural organization of the eukaryotic cell. Articles about other aspects of molecular genetics might be considered if related to the concepts of species boundary, delimitations, and phylogenetic position. RIGOROUS PEER REVIEW Each submission to Caryologia is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes high-quality, original research contributions to scientific knowledge. All manuscript submissions are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is single blind and submission is online. OPEN ACCESS POLICY Caryologia provides immediate open access to its content. Our publisher, Firenze University Press at the University of Florence , complies with the Budapest Open Access Initiative definition of Open Access : By “open access” , we mean the free availability on the public internet, the permission for all users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of the articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.
