Su misión es difundir la producción historiográfica validada sobre los hechos e ideas del conjunto de las manifestaciones sociales, políticas, intelectuales y estéticas de las agrupaciones, organizaciones y personas relacionadas con el pasado y presente de lo que social y tradicionalmente ha sido o son reconocidas como constitutivas de las izquierdas y el socialismo latinoamericanos, en una perspectiva de diálogo con realidades similares de otras regiones del mundo. Su púbico objetivo es la comunidad de especialistas (cientistas sociales en general) principalmente historiadores/as vinculados/as o relacionadas/as con la temática de la historia del socialismo latinoamericano. No obstante ello, busca satisfacer consultas e interrogantes de un público amplio no necesariamente adscrito a la academia o la investigación.
