Aims & Scope

Historia Agraria. Revista de agricultura e historia ruralis an open-access quarterly journal specializing in the history of agriculture, economy, and rural society. It publishes in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. The journal serves as an interdisciplinary platform for scholars analyzing agrarian history in Spain, Portugal, Latin America, and other world regions. Its goal is to disseminate research on the history of the rural world across all periods and fields of interest, for both specialists and the general public, without chronological restrictions. The only requirement is originality and theoretical, methodological, and empirical rigor. The external double-blind peer review process ensures these standards. The journal welcomes the publication of monographic issues or thematic dossiers following appropriate review procedures and includes a dedicated book review section. Historia Agrariapublishes three issues annually, released on the first day of April, August, and December. From issue No. 92 (2024) onward, it is published exclusively online. Historia Agrariacharges no APCs (Article Processing Charges) to authors. It is also completely free for readers, classifying it as a “diamond” open-access journal. Historia Agrariasupports open science policies and has been indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) since 2018. It operates under a Creative Commons license. Historia Agrariaencourages authors to deposit the data used in their research in open-access repositories to ensure transparency, reusability, and advancement of open science.
