The journal’s audience includes ophthalmologists, optometrists, orthoptists, and researchers interested in advancing eye care, visual science, and patient outcomes. The journal has a special interest in topics such as pharmacology and drug therapy in eye diseases, patient safety and quality of care improvements, and eye health promotion. Authors are invited to submit their work to dedicated sections of the journal, including cataract , retina , and general ophthalmology . Authors are required to provide imaging and diagnostic studies regarding their clinical findings. Basic science studies, such as cell biology and genetics studies, must have direct clinical relevance. Additionally, the journal does not accept pure, non-human animal studies or case reports/series, which are to be redirected to the International Medical Case Reports Journal . The journal welcomes for consideration the following article types: original research, reviews, editorials, commentaries, clinical trial reports, and protocols. All articles received by the journal will be subject to single anonymous peer review. When considering submission of a paper utilizing publicly available data authors should ensure that such studies add significantly to the body of knowledge and that they are validated using the authors’ own data through replication in an original sample. All meta-analyses require a pre-submission check prior to submitting to Clinical Ophthalmology. Please complete the pre-submission check form here .   Updated 7 January 2026 Related journals you may also be interested in: Clinical Optometry Eye and Brain International Medical Case Reports Journal
