Aims & Scope

CHASQUI. Revista Latinoamericana de Comunicación is an academic publication with a tradition of more than forty years as a stage for debate in the Latin American communication field. It was created in 1972 and, since then, has been edited by the International Center for Higher Studies in Communication for Latin America, CIESPAL, based in Quito, Ecuador. It is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, teachers, and researchers related to the area of communication and social sciences, mainly in the following areas: Critical perspectives and reflections on the links between communication and development. Reflections on the economies and policies of information and communication. Cultural studies and reflections on mediation theories. Critical analyses of the interconnections and tensions between communication technologies and politics. Journalism and new information cultures. The journal is published periodically in digital format. Its expository modality is the academic article or the scientific article. Texts must address topics from a research perspective and be elaborated based on academic rigor, critical analysis, and solid theoretical proposal. Starting from issue N°142, Chasqui strengthens its editorial policy, with a commitment to deepening academic quality by adapting to international standards in its editorial processes. It has since had a new central format that includes: the thematic "Monograph" for each journal and the open section "Dialogue of Knowledge", with a total of 15 articles per issue.
