Linguistik Online
Bern Open Publishing · Switzerland · Est. 1998
Aims & Scope
Linguistik online is one of the oldest open-access journals for linguistics. It was founded in 1998 at the Faculty of Cultural Studies of the Europa-Universität Viadrina to help ensure that linguistic research results remain generally accessible in the face of shrinking library budgets. From the first day, it has been freely accessible to all interested parties as well as to contributors. In addition to "miscellaneous" issues that cover a broad spectrum of linguistic questions, issues on individual focal points, which can also be supervised by guest editors, are regularly published. Publication languages: Linguistik online sees itself as an international European journal and will therefore publish contributions in all European languages. However, three factors should be considered: Reviewers must be found who can read the contribution in the respective language; Special characters that are only common in individual languages can lead to display problems; Authors should consider: the number of those who can read the contribution depends heavily on the choice of language. In principle, Linguistik online therefore recommends limiting oneself to "major" European languages such as German, English, French, Italian or Spanish. Review procedure: In order to ensure the scientific level of Linguistik online, contributions are only published if they have been positively evaluated by two members of the scientific advisory board. The review is carried out with mutual observance of anonymity. In order to enable a quick and effective review process, a large circle of reviewers ("consulting editors") has been formed.
