La revista se propone enriquecer la vida académica universitaria de Colombia y de América Latina, promoviendo la discusión por escrito de temas cruciales en el campo de las ciencias sociales y las humanidades. También tiene entre sus objetivos centrales el de estimular y alimentar la investigación humanística, publicando en forma de artículos los avances y resultados de los proyectos de investigación que se adelanten a este nivel, tanto en la Universidad Autónoma como fuera de ella.
