Papeles del CEIC: International Journal on Collective Identity Research
UPV/EHU Press · Spain · Est. 2001
Aims & Scope
Papeles de Identidad aims to be a reference space for the academic expression of theoretical and methodological proposals at the frontier of available knowledge in social sciences; to delve into the empirical complexity of contemporary forms of identity and subjectivity; and, through a process of selection, discussion, and thoughtful editing of texts, to contribute to fostering an academic life that prioritizes open discussion and quality. The journal was founded in 2001 as part of the research program of the Center for Studies on Collective Identity, of the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. In its first phase (2001-2006) it mainly published the production of the team, permanent researchers, and invited researchers from the CEIC. In its second phase (2006-2024), the journal regularly published two annual issues with original articles organized in monographic or free-topic issues. Since 2024, it is linked to the Kontu laborategia research group. The work of storytelling in frontier research broadens the scope of its objectives. The journal's trajectory defines the multiplicity of its interests, which not only revolve around its founding objective, collective identity, but also around what concerns contemporary social and human sciences when they address their most problematic themes, objects, and territories. The journal, therefore, is particularly attentive to collecting "frontier science" work, i.e., work that dares to position itself at the edges of available knowledge. Papeles de Identidad is structured into four main sections: Research Articles, Critical Papers, Fundamentals, and Inherited Identity. All texts undergo internal and external evaluation.
