Aims & Scope
Aposta: Revista de Ciencias Sociales (ISSN 1696-7348) is an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes original research contributing to the critical understanding of contemporary social transformations. The journal maintains a clearly defined and specialized editorial scope , focused on the analysis of (I) social protection systems and welfare state transformations , including minimum income schemes, social services, and post-crisis policy reconfigurations; (II) social inequalities, vulnerability, and exclusion , particularly affecting children, youth, families, and marginalized populations; (III) gender relations, sexualities, and gender-based violence , encompassing social norms, media representations, and prevention strategies; (IV) violence, victimization, and social conflict, in both interpersonal and structural dimensions; (V) health, illness, and society , examined through critical and socio-anthropological approaches; (VI) cultural practices, social identities, and elites , including symbolic systems, religion, and intellectual debates; and (VII) socio-environmental challenges and sustainability , with emphasis on inequality, governance, and critical perspectives on development. The journal prioritizes contributions that demonstrate methodological rigor, analytical consistency, and theoretical relevance , including comparative, cross-national, and longitudinal studies, as well as systematic reviews grounded in transparent, replicable research designs. Submissions are expected to engage critically with international scholarship, contribute to cumulative knowledge, and address clearly defined research problems within the journal’s scope. To ensure thematic coherence and editorial specialization, manuscripts that do not align directly with these areas are not considered for peer review. Aposta adopts an interdisciplinary yet analytically delimited approach , integrating sociology, social policy, social anthropology, and social psychology to examine structured social phenomena. The journal promotes international academic dialogue and actively encourages submissions from diverse geographical contexts, with particular attention to Global South perspectives and their contribution to global debates on inequality, governance, and social change. Aligned with the global research agenda, the journal supports contributions that engage with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , especially SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 13 (Climate Action, in its social dimensions), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). Particular emphasis is placed on research examining the intersection between public policy, institutional arrangements, and structural inequalities, especially in emerging and developing societies.
