Aims & Scope

eSamizdat. Rivista di culture dei paesi slavi / Journal of Slavic Cultures / Журнал славянских культур is a peer-reviewed scientific journal. It is published annually in open access electronic format. It deals with comparative cultures and literatures, cultural and postcolonial studies, visual and performative studies, translation studies and literary theories. The journal also welcomes contributions on social and cultural history, art and architectural history, anthropology and folklore, prioritizing interdisciplinary approaches and valuing the comparison between different fields of knowledge. Founded in 2003 by Alessandro Catalano and Simone Guagnelli, "eSamizdat" has represented one of the most innovative realities in Italian Slavic studies and a point of reference for an entire generation of scholars. Its editorial line has been based on open access and interdisciplinarity from the beginning, with a focus on new theoretical approaches, "peripheral" and non-aligned cultural phenomena, the non-Russian Slavic world, and emerging critical voices. Since 2020, the journal presents itself with the same intentions but in a new guise and with a new editorial board, composed of Anita Frison, Emilio Mari and Chiara Rampazzo. The scientific-editorial board has also been renewed, bringing together Italian and foreign members, experts in the various fields of research and activities of "eSamizdat".
