- TheJournal of Distribution Science (JDS)is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal devoted to advancingdistribution science as a distinctive, specialized, and globally significant field of scholarship. JDS publishes high-quality theoretical, empirical, and applied research that strengthens the academic identity, theoretical development, methodological rigor, and international competitiveness of distribution science. - JDS defines distribution as the set ofvalue-added economic activities occurring throughout the distribution process from raw material suppliers to final consumers. Within this framework, distribution encompasses bothphysical distributions, involving the temporal and spatial transfer of goods, services, and related value through logistics, transportation, warehousing, delivery, and supply chain activities, andcommercial distribution, involving ownership transfer through market exchange, channel transactions, wholesaling, retailing, franchising, and related commercial mechanisms. Distribution is therefore understood as an integrated economic system connecting suppliers, producers, intermediaries, retailers, platforms, consumers, and market institutions. - JDS advances a distinctive distribution science perspective that extends beyond conventional disciplinary boundaries associated with logistics, retailing, marketing, and supply chain management.From this perspective, distribution science examines how goods, services, information, ownership, and market value are created, coordinated, exchanged, transferred, and realized across successive stages of market systems.
