Aims & Scope
The Nordic Journal of Science and Technology Studies (NJSTS) is an Open Access academic journal published at NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture. The journal has a broad interest in the interrelationship between science, technology and society with a particular focus on research in the Nordic region. We welcome contributions on topics related to science and technology that engages with Science and Technology Studies (STS) different ways, including: the making of technology and science , the role of scientific and technological governance, the relationship between politics, technology and science, public understanding of science, as well as user perspectives on technology and science and the social consequences of technology. NJSTS is committed to advancing cross-disciplinary studies at the intersection of social science, the humanities, and the natural and technical sciences. However, the journal requires that submitted manuscripts engage with STS scholarship in some form. The journal provides research, analysis, and commentary from both established and emerging themes in the Nordic STS communities. Since its launch in 2013, the journal has published research on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to: sustainable energy and climate change, digitalization, RRI, citizen science, biotechnology, food, animals, video games, and security. We have also published special issues on the intersections of care, policies, and technology (Care in STS) and how the study of craft can help us (Crafting sustainability). STS is a broad and multifaceted field, and we welcome contributions from diverse set of fields and disciplines that seeks to understand the ever changing role of technology and science in society; media studies, anthropology, history, sociology, economics, philosophy, architecture, sociology, disability studies, gender studies, sport science, computer science i.e. Research that explores themes of injustice and inclusion in science and technology is particularly welcome. As we are witnessing growing inequality in society, we are in urgent need of research-based knowledge and solutions. NJSTS is committed to give visibility to marginalized perspectives, peoples and communities.
