Aims & Scope
Music & Politics is an open access, peer-reviewed, academic journal first published in 2007. We welcome submissions (articles, and colloquy and special issue proposals) that explore the interaction of music and politics, and are in conversation with music studies, broadly understood. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the impact of politics on the lives of musicians and musical communities, music as a form of political discourse, the political meanings of music scholarship, the influences of ideology on musical historiography, and pedagogical issues and strategies pertaining to the study of music and politics in the classroom. We also welcome submissions of relevant articles that have already been published in another language and that would benefit from dissemination in English translation (authors should indicate that their submission is a translation in such cases). Submissions are encouraged from both established scholars and doctoral students. Because Music & Politics is an online journal, authors are welcome to take advantage of the media capabilities of the web (sound files, hyperlinks, color images, and video). Our issues will also include a book list of items published in the last year in the area of music and politics.
