Aims & Scope

The Journal of Philosophy and Kalam was established with the aim of promoting fundamental research in the fields of Islamic philosophy and kalam, analytic philosophy, and logic. It seeks to publish articles that approach these fields from diverse perspectives—including historical, analytical, and comparative approaches—and that contain original and innovative insights capable of contributing to the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge in these areas. The journal aims to provide a suitable platform for high‑quality and original research in the aforementioned fields and to foster dialogue and collaboration among scholars working in related disciplines and specializations. It endeavors to present the new findings of researchers in kalam, philosophy, and logic to intersubjective scholarly evaluation, so that individual research efforts may achieve synergy through critical engagement within the academic community and help create an appropriate foundation for the transformation and advancement of the humanities. With a forward‑looking perspective, the Journal of Philosophy and Kalam defines its mission as enhancing the level of knowledge and advancing the broader goals of the scholarly community at both national and international levels. The journal’s international outlook is focused on increasing global readership and achieving inclusion in international academic databases. To this end, all accepted articles are required to provide an extended abstract and a list of references in English, thereby enabling non‑Persian‑speaking researchers to access and cite the scholarly contributions published in this journal. Our goal is to become a recognized academic reference for studies in Islamic philosophy and kalam at both regional and global levels. The journal accepts and publishes articles related to Islamic kalam as well as various traditions of Islamic philosophy, including Peripatetic philosophy, Illuminationist philosophy, and Transcendent Philosophy ( al‑ḥikma al‑mutaʿāliyya ). Analytic philosophy, as a philosophical approach emphasizing clarity and rigor in argumentation, also falls within the journal’s scope. Accordingly, the journal welcomes articles that address major questions in analytic philosophy, such as the nature of meaning, truth, and knowledge, as well as topics related to moral philosophy, metaphysics, and epistemological foundations. Logic, as a fundamental tool in both analytic philosophy and Islamic philosophy, constitutes another core area of interest. The journal accepts scholarly articles concerned with logic and its applications in philosophical inquiry. The primary target audience of the Journal of Philosophy and Kalam includes university faculty members, researchers, and graduate students in the fields of Islamic philosophy, kalam, and related disciplines who seek access to the latest original research findings. In addition to the academic community, the journal also serves as a valuable resource for scholars and enthusiasts interested in philosophical studies.
