IJDS is committed to publishing high-quality research papers and fostering scholarly dialogue across a diverse range of topics. The journal's editorial policy is notably flexible, welcoming submissions across all domains related to environmental, economic, social, and cultural sustainability. This includes, but is not limited to, areas such as land and water resources, energy, agriculture, marine resources, ecology, environmental protection, health risks, education, human relations, labor, social policy, corporate responsibility, law, governance, urban planning, transportation, product and service innovation, management, marketing and financial development, economic growth, technological advancements, and international cooperation and relations. IJDS maintains a global scope and actively encourages submissions from all countries and regions within the thematic areas outlined above. Particular attention is given to research addressing the needs and contexts of underdeveloped and developing countries, where the challenges of sustainability are especially pressing. Africa, and South Africa in particular, is among the journal’s primary areas of interest—South Africa representing a unique case of an emerging economy navigating complex developmental dynamics within an underdeveloped continental context. At the same time, studies from developed countries are also welcomed—particularly those offering innovative approaches, transferable practices, comparative analyses, or critical reflections that can inform sustainable development efforts globally. IJDS seeks to foster inclusive and globally relevant scholarship that advances sustainability in diverse settings.
