Aims & Scope
The Journal of Sonic Studies (JSS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes research on all aspects of sound and listening. It aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue between scholars and practitioners in fields such as musicology, sound studies, anthropology, sociology, media studies, cultural studies, art history, and performance studies. JSS welcomes submissions that explore the social, cultural, political, and aesthetic dimensions of sound and listening, as well as theoretical and methodological contributions to the field of sonic studies. The journal is particularly interested in research that engages with contemporary issues and debates in sonic culture, including but not limited to soundscape ecology, sound art, digital sound, sound and identity, sound and technology, and the politics of sound.
