The journal covers problems of plant biology and animal biology. Articles are published in Russian and English. The journal is included in the List of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications in the Russian Federation, in which the main results of dissertations for the degree of Doctor and Candidate of Sciences should be published (List of VAK) (in agronomy and forestry, in zootechnical and veterinary specialties, and since 2007 - also in biological sciences).
