Aims & Scope

L'Atalante. Revista de estudios cinematográficos is a publication for both the theoretical and professional spheres of cinema and audiovisual topics. It covers the practice of cinema and diverse themes within the audiovisual context. The target audience includes individuals whose work, research, or interests are linked to the journal's subject matter. Published texts will be original essays on topics related to film theory and/or practice, primarily contributing approaches to the cinematic phenomenon from historiography or audiovisual analysis. Texts that explore novel objects of study with rigorous and well-evidenced methodologies will be valued. Preference will be given to texts that primarily reference signification processes through the analysis of audiovisual form and/or narratological elements specific to our field, focusing on methodologies specifically linked to the treatment of image. While works with other methodologies that approach the filmic phenomenon from transversal perspectives (cultural studies, philological approaches, etc.) are accepted, the journal's primary interest lies in studies that use specifically cinematic expressive tools as the main generators of discourse. Similarly, preference will be given to texts that do not merely describe, enumerate, or summarize specific plot details, but rigorously apply a concrete and evidenced analytical methodology, yielding concrete and novel results.
