Aims & Scope

About the Journal Hayula: Indonesian Journal of Multidisciplinary Islamic Studies is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal established in 2017 and published twice a year (January and July). The journal publishes original research articles and scholarly reviews that contribute to ongoing scholarly conversations in multidisciplinary Islamic studies. Hayula advances scholarship through empirical, comparative, and interdisciplinary approaches that critically examine diverse dimensions of Muslim societies. The journal welcomes contributions in areas including spirituality and religiosity; Islamic education and character formation; socio-cultural dynamics; Islamic law; Islamic economics and sustainable development; as well as Islamic political thought, citizenship, and civic engagement. The journal places particular emphasis on empirically grounded research while supporting theoretically informed studies that refine conceptual and analytical approaches within contemporary Islamic studies. Hayula foregrounds intangible cultural heritage and local wisdom as key analytical dimensions for examining Muslim identity, social resilience, and the dynamic interaction between Islamic teachings and evolving societal contexts. By integrating locally grounded inquiry with global scholarly debates, the journal promotes scholarship that is both contextually rooted and internationally engaged. All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process and are assessed for methodological rigor, theoretical contribution, originality, and scholarly significance. The journal operates under a formal Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure transparency, accountability, and systematic quality control throughout the editorial process. Hayula demonstrates sustained and increasing citation growth, with the majority of citations originating from Scopus-indexed journals. This citation trajectory indicates the journal’s growing engagement within internationally indexed sch
