Aims & Scope

microPublication Biology is an excellent journal in general and an exceptionally helpful journal for faculty members at predominantly undergraduate institutions because it allows us to publish data with students that might otherwise take years to assemble into a larger publication for a different journal. microPublication Biology is an ideal forum for students to publish their short scientific stories and get excited about science early in their careers. For my lab, micropublications have provided a much needed venue to publish snippets that could be useful to others, but do not tell a complete story. microPublication allows us to get our cool, but small findings published for all to see. Micropubs are an invaluable resource for tiny chunks of novel data, and perhaps even more importantly for replicates and negative data. This is essential for my and my undergraduate students' professional development. microPublication Biology offers a great resource to publish data that otherwise would not be published. This is especially important for students starting their scientific career that work in small projects or that generate data that ends up not being part of a larger story. microPublication Biology was a great fit for getting our story out into the world and helped multiple students get experience with writing and publishing.
