Aims & Scope

Umática is an open-access journal focused on the study and critical analysis of the image, artistic creation, and audiovisual production, proposing a transversal approach from an interdisciplinary perspective. Umática is a peer-reviewed scientific journal whose mission is to publish and disseminate texts and essays on theory, art, aesthetics, and contemporary visual culture aimed at researchers in the fields of image, sound, art, and visual culture. The editorial profile contemplates the processes of creation, analysis, and distribution of contemporary creation through media and other hybrid languages enabled by technology. Three types of submissions are proposed for publication after a favorable editorial and review process: Research Articles, Visual Essays, and Creation Projects.
