Aims & Scope

Musiikki is the longest-running peer-reviewed scientific journal in the field of music research in Finland, published continuously since 1971. Musiikki is published electronically as an open online publication four times a year. The journal's publication languages are mainly Finnish and Swedish, and for a justified reason, also English. In addition to peer-reviewed scientific articles, the journal also publishes review articles, doctoral defense lectures, and other contributions. The journal's articles represent Finnish music research – its theories, methodologies, and research objects – in their entirety. Musiikki is published by the Finnish Musicological Society, whose task is to promote Finnish music research and to serve Finnish music life by disseminating researched information about music and music cultures. It is important that music research conducted in Finland and research on Finnish music is published for a domestic and international audience.
