Aims & Scope

The Nepal Public Policy Review (NPPR) (ISSN Print: 2795-1901; Online: 2795-191X) is a bilingual, multidisciplinary, and peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing the integration of scholarly research with public policy practice. It serves as a platform for generating and disseminating policy-relevant knowledge, contributing to evidence-based policymaking in Nepal. NPPR is indexed in the Nepal Journals Online (NepJOL) under the ‘New Title’ category and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Recognizing the requirement of rigorous academic inquiry and experiential insights of policy practitioners for effective public policy formulation, NPPR seeks to bridge the gap between research and policy implementation. The journal provides a forum for researchers and policy actors to collaborate in producing knowledge directly applicable to public policy design, evaluation, and reform. Initially established to serve as an interface between research and policy, NPPR has published scholarly works that contain clear policy relevance. In light of the existence of numerous academic journals that publish general research, NPPR has redefined its purpose to function as a dedicated outlet for applied policy research. Applied policy research is herein defined as work that demonstrably generates new knowledge capable of informing public policy decisions. With this refined focus, NPPR aligns with the mandate of its publisher, the Policy Research Institute (PRI), a think tank of the Government of Nepal tasked with generating policy recommendations grounded in rigorous empirical research. Submissions to NPPR are expected to reflect concise and targeted analyses that complement the more extensive policy research conducted by P
