Aims & Scope

Aims: The primary aim of Ascarya: Journal of Islamic Science, Culture, and Social Studies is to foster interdisciplinary scholarship that bridges Islamic knowledge, jurisprudence, and cultural heritage with modern social sciences and humanities. The journal seeks to address contemporary challenges faced by Muslim societies globally, using both traditional and contemporary research methodologies. By providing an inclusive academic platform, Ascarya promotes innovative research that enriches the discourse across Islamic studies, social sciences, and cultural studies, encouraging a dialogue that contributes to a holistic understanding of these fields. Scope: To achieve this aim, Ascarya welcomes submissions that contribute to both Islamic studies and broader interdisciplinary fields in social sciences and cultural studies. The journal accepts the following types of submissions across its thematic areas: Islamic Studies: Original Research Articles: In-depth exploration of Islamic theology, philosophy, history, and education, offering fresh perspectives and contributing to the academic dialogue on Islam. Review Articles: Synthesis of existing research that provides a comprehensive overview of key issues in Islamic studies and highlights future research opportunities. Theoretical Papers: Development or critique of theoretical frameworks that enhance understanding of Islamic concepts and practices within academic contexts. Jurisprudence: Original Research Articles: Detailed examinations of Sharia law principles, their interpretation, and application in contemporary legal and societal contexts. Review Articles: Critical overviews of developments in Islamic jurisprudence, outlining key debates and recent advancements. Comparative Legal Studies: Papers comparing Islamic jurisprudence with other legal systems, exploring the intersections and divergences in legal theory and practice. Cultural Heritage: Preservation and Conservation: Research on the preservation and promotion of Islamic cultural heritage, including tangible (architecture, manuscripts) and intangible (arts, oral traditions) aspects. Heritage and Identity: Studies on how Islamic cultural heritage shapes the identities and social cohesion of Muslim communities in the modern world. Conservation Challenges: Exploration of the challenges posed by modernization and globalization to the preservation of Islamic heritage, and practical strategies to address these challenges. Social Studies and Interdisciplinary Research: Interdisciplinary Integration: Ascarya encourages submissions that combine Islamic studies with fields such as sociology, anthropology, education, economics, political science, law, business and management, public administration, psychology, and history. Global and Collaborative Research: The journal welcomes global collaborations that apply interdisciplinary approaches to solve real-world problems, particularly those affecting Muslim societies. Publication Strategy: Ascarya is committed to the rigorous, double-blind peer-review process to ensure the publication of high-quality research.
