Aims & Scope
Journal of Global Health Economics and Policy (JoGHEP) is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to advancing research and evidence-informed decision-making in global health economics, health policy, health systems, and population health. The Journal operates within the Journal of Global Health network, alongside the Journal of Global Health and the Journal of Global Health Reports. JoGHEP aims to promote high-quality research and scholarship that address pressing local, national, regional, and global health challenges through economic, policy, financing, and health systems perspectives. The Journal particularly welcomes contributions that improve understanding of how health systems, financing mechanisms, policy interventions, and resource allocation strategies influence population health, equity, access, efficiency, and health outcomes globally, especially in low- and middle-income countries. The Journal welcomes original research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, policy analyses, implementation research, methodological papers, viewpoints, commentaries, and mixed-methods studies across the full spectrum of health economics and policy research. Submissions may use qualitative, quantitative, econometric, epidemiological, modelling, implementation science, or mixed-methods approaches, provided they demonstrate clear relevance to global health policy, financing, systems, or decision-making. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to: Health financing and universal health coverage (UHC) Economic evaluation and cost-effectiveness analysis Priority setting and resource allocation Health technology assessment (HTA) Health-system performance, resilience, and reform Catastrophic health expenditure and financial risk protection Pharmaceutical economics and policy Climate-health economics and financing Public health policy evaluation Disease burden studies with economic or policy implications Health inequalities and equity analysis Implementation and health service delivery research with policy relevance Health workforce, governance, and system strengthening Pandemic preparedness, health security, and emergency response policy Digital health, innovation, and data systems for health policy and planning JoGHEP encourages interdisciplinary and internationally relevant research that contributes to evidence-based policy and practice and upholds the highest ethical, scientific, and professional standards. The Journal does not normally consider purely clinical studies, purely theoretical economic papers without clear health policy relevance, general political commentary, or descriptive local studies unless they make a clear contribution to global health economics, health policy, health systems, financing, equity, or public health decision-making.
