Aims & Scope
Global Storytellinginvites written submissions that engage with the affect (emotional engagement) and effect (social impact) of audiovisual storytelling. We cover a range of storytelling modes, genres, platforms, and industries with the aim of bridging the gap between academia and the wider world and deepening our understanding of how storytelling shapes our identities and perceptions. The journal is methodologically broad and welcomes submissions from traditional scholars (including disciplines such as film and media studies, cultural studies, gender studies, communication, history, political science, sociology, philosophy, and psychology) as well as from critics, curators, policymakers, and public intellectuals. To comply with new accessibility requirements under ADA Title II, all figures and images must include alternative text (alt text) describing their content for screen readers. Under the Michigan Publishing Services (MPS) publication agreement, authors are responsible for providing alt text for all figures, images, charts, and other visual materials at the time of submission. Manuscripts with missing alt text may be returned to authors for completion prior to editorial approval. This journal operates a double-blind peer-review policy for research articlesandat least two independent reviewers review each article. The journal also runs a non-peer-reviewed section, which includes opinion pieces, book reviews, and reviews of film, TV, and video programs. Global Storytellingpublishes all pieces under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license. Global Storytellinghas no article processing charges, submission/publication fees or open access fees.
