Aims & Scope

npj Imaging considers all aspects of imaging research across scales and the translational pipeline. The journal covers the breadth of imaging techniques, from subcellular bioimaging to whole-body medical imaging research. We provide a unique platform for research related to the design and development of new imaging tools, the use of these tools to better understand (patho)physiology, and their implementation in clinical research. The journal covers a broad range of topics including but not limited to: Cellular and subcellular imaging, Cell tracking, Non-invasive whole-body and organ imaging, Clinical imaging, Advances in imaging instrumentation design and their downstream applications, Application of artificial intelligence to molecular- or bio-imaging, Design and development of imaging probes, including the use of new chemical methodologies, Using imaging as a tool to better understand biological processes and disease, Monitoring response and resistance to treatments and therapies, Theranostics, Image-guided surgery and drug-delivery, Medical imaging research across modalities, including all forms of optical imaging, ultrasound, photoacoustics, magnetic resonance, radionuclide, X-ray, magnetic particle, and near-infrared spectroscopic imaging, Electron microscopy. Biological application must be demonstrated for all methodological research. The journal offers more choice to Nature Portfolio authors who are seeking a fully open-access and a more inclusive platform for publishing their work. The journal is led by biomedical imaging experts who collaborate to cultivate high-quality research. As part of the npj Series , this journal focuses on fostering global partnerships with the research community and other Springer Nature journals.
