npj Natural Hazards considers research examining the causes and effects of natural hazards, including seismic hazards, landslides and debris flows, volcanic hazards, coastal hazards, tsunamis, tropical cyclones and hurricanes, floods, droughts, extreme weather events, avalanche hazards, and space weather hazards. The journal covers a broad range of topics including but not limited to: Compounding and cascading hazards Nonhomogeneous hazards and their implications for risk assessment and management Extreme events and uncertainties in forecasting and projection Risk and resilience assessment of human-infrastructure systems Mitigation strategies and resilience improvement Social vulnerability and inequality Risk communication, preparedness promotion, and risk reduction efforts Epidemiology and public health risks of extreme climate events and natural disasters Influence of climate and environmental changes in the impact, frequency, intensity, and distribution of natural hazards Interdisciplinary approaches to natural hazards research The journal offers more choice to Nature Portfolio authors who are seeking a fully open-access and more inclusive platform for publishing their work.
