npj Metabolic Health and Disease considers all aspects of metabolism, including the basic mechanisms of metabolism and metabolic diseases, as well as pre-clinical and clinical studies focussing on diagnostic tools, effects of interventions for the prevention and treatment of metabolic pathophysiology, epidemiology, public health, and global health. The journal covers a broad range of topics including but not limited to: Type 1 and type 2 diabetes pathophysiology, management, and complications Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic approaches to insulin resistance Obesity etiology, mechanisms, interventions, and associated comorbidities Metabolic syndrome diagnosis, risk factors, and treatment Adipose tissue biology, metabolism, and dysfunction Lipid metabolism regulation, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular risk Genetic and epigenetic factors in metabolic health and disease Liver metabolism and associated metabolic diseases Cardiovascular disease and associated metabolic dysfunction Cancer metabolism Gut microbiota and metabolic health Influence of nutrition and physical activity on metabolic health and disease Nutrient sensing and substrate metabolism Endocrine regulation of metabolism, including hormones, receptors, and signaling pathways Cellular and mitochondrial metabolism Pharmacotherapy and new therapies for metabolic diseases The journal offers more choice to Nature Portfolio authors who are seeking a fully open-access and more inclusive platform for publishing their work.
