Aims & Scope
npj Biomedical Innovations considers all aspects of basic science as well as translational and clinical applications of biomedical engineering research. We encourage contributions that focus on in vitro models that advance the understanding of biological systems, improve medical diagnostics and treatment modalities, and drive innovation in healthcare technologies. The journal covers a broad range of topics including but not limited to: Cell and tissue engineering, including stem cell research and organ in a chip and tissue engineering for organ regeneration Translational biomedical research on women’s health, including bridging the gap between laboratory research and clinical applications, and developing new in vitro models Biomechanics and biomaterials, including mechanics of biological systems and tissues, and the development and characterization of biomaterials for medical applications Medical devices and technologies, including their design and development and wearable technologies for healthcare Biomedical robotics and rehabilitation technologies, including surgical robotics and automation in healthcare and assistive devices for rehabilitation Biomedical imaging and artificial intelligence, including medical imaging technologies (MRI, CT, PET, ultrasound, etc.), and contrast agents and AI modeling of biomedical data Immunoengineering approaches to modulate and enhance the immune system and immunotherapies and vaccines Drug delivery, including innovative drug delivery systems and nanotechnology for targeted drug delivery Biomedical data analytics and informatics, including big data analytics in healthcare and healthcare information systems and data security The journal offers more choice to Nature Portfolio authors who are seeking a fully open-access and more inclusive platform for publishing their work.
