Aims & Scope

The Criminology, Victimology and Security Journal was established as an open space for dialogue among different fields of knowledge, with the aim of delving into central issues in contemporary society, such as crime, experiences of victimization and the multiple meanings attributed to security. Far from any simplified or rigidly dichotomous vision, the Journal seeks to explore these themes by adopting a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, aware of their complexity and their multiple intersections with cultural, social, political and economic contexts. Vulnerability – both individual and collective – is adopted as an interpretive lens that is not definitive but dynamic and nuanced, capable of embracing ambivalences and contradictions. It invites reflection on the conditions of insecurity and inequality without seeking preconceived solutions, instead promoting pathways of research, reflection and intervention that take into account the plurality of experiences and lived realities. The Criminology, Victimology and Security Journal is thus addressed to criminologists, victimologists, sociologists, psychologists, educators, jurists, legal practitioners and scholars of social and legal sciences, offering a space for dialogue to share reflections, practices and intervention strategies oriented toward recognizing subjectivities and restoring agency to those experiencing suffering, exclusion, or marginality. From this perspective, the Criminology, Victimology and Security Journal also welcomes contributions that address the theoretical aspects of victimology without neglecting the importance, for those involved in various capacities in the process of supporting victims, of the ability to build relationships and interpret reality in a critical and innovative way.
