El Cálculo y su Enseñanza
Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional · Mexico
Aims & Scope
El Cálculo y su Enseñanza is an international, peer-reviewed academic publication that provides an academic forum for the presentation and discussion of educational problems in the teaching and learning process of mathematics and basic sciences at all educational levels, including university schools of science, engineering, architecture, or social sciences, as well as secondary and primary schools, and for any level and area. It presents ideas, concepts, proposals, and models for the international educational community that contribute to the promotion and improvement of teaching and learning of basic sciences and mathematics in diverse contexts and latitudes. Articles can contribute to both the theory and practice of the disciplines. Articles may have a robust component in mathematics or science, as long as the educational purpose is not lost, and vice versa, methodological, pedagogical aspects, etc., may be favored, as long as the mathematical theme is clear and relevant. The publication is not limited to being a communication vehicle between specialists. It also has the particular purpose of influencing the field of mathematics and science teachers, for which a deep knowledge of this field is indispensable. Consequently, studies that take a deep look at deficiencies, difficulties, and other issues among both students and teachers in a certain educational setting will be welcome, especially when accompanied by field exploration with relevant data. It is sought that the articles make proposals, especially for our Ibero-American reality, and may be of interest not only to other researchers in mathematics education and sciences of the same specialty, but also to in-service teachers at the corresponding level. Consequently, research articles, whether basic or applied, must respond to an educational problem (explicit in them) and must communicate their findings and proposals in an intelligible language, seeking, in the case of findings, to convince teachers of their relevance and, with the proposals, to enrich and improve the educational process, inviting these teachers to experiment, reformulate, or extend them.
