Aims & Scope

Crítica Penal y Poder (CPyP) is an electronic journal dedicated to the study of the criminal question, the phenomenon of crime, the processes of criminalization and punishment, and their forms, institutions, discourses, and practices. It also examines the dimension of power in a broad sense of political, economic, and cultural domination, from a critical and multidisciplinary perspective, including law, philosophy of law, political science, criminology, psychology, sociology, anthropology, and history. The journal aims to foster the publication of in-depth articles that reflect on these topics, especially from a multidisciplinary perspective, drawing from critical theory and the sociology of penal control. It generally does not publish articles on legal-penal dogmatics or mere technical normative or jurisprudential commentaries, but rather focuses on critical criminology, legal-penal sociology, and social sciences.
