Mediascapes Journal
Sapienza Università Editrice · Italy · Est. 2013
Aims & Scope
Mediascapes Journal is an open access online journal published semiannually that offers theoretical and empirical articles aiming to provide an original perspective on the world of communication and mass media. Founded in 2013, Mediascapes Journal is the first Italian journal expressly dedicated to media studies, where scholars of different generations and analytical approaches can compare theories, methodologies, and critical perspectives. Mediascapes is included in the list of A-class scientific journals by ANVUR in two specific disciplinary sectors: Sociology of Cultural Processes and Communication (Area: 14, Sector: 14C2, SSD: Sps/08); Theatre, music, cinema, television and audiovisual media (Area:10, Sector: 10C1; SSD: L-ART/05). Mediascapes Journal is divided into three sections: a monographic section, an analysis section, and Mediascenarios. The monographic section is dedicated to specific thematic calls and collects contributions that address the same topic from different theoretical and methodological perspectives. The "Research Paths" miscellaneous section, on the other hand, hosts works not tied to a thematic call, focused on the analysis of contemporary media phenomena, practices, or objects. All articles published in these two areas are subjected to a peer-review process with a double-blind refereeing system. Mediascenarios is finally reserved for critical reflections, explorations of emerging fields, and more experimental contributions, aimed at observing the changes underway in the media landscape. Mediascapes Journal accepts contributions in Italian and English.
