Aims & Scope
Medienimpulse publishes peer-reviewed articles from all areas of media education research, including all methodological approaches and theoretical foundations from pedagogy, communication science, media studies, sociology, psychology, computer science, and philosophy. Special emphasis is placed on media education research related to schools, particularly in Austria. The journal also focuses on contributions that address the use of (digital) media in pedagogical practice, especially in school contexts, including descriptions and critical reflections on the use of specific digital tools, specific media didactic concepts, or the implementation of educational policy requirements. Other media/pedagogical practice contexts whose work can provide valuable insights for school practice are also addressed. The journal also examines how media change the production, distribution, and reception of art, encompassing all forms of contemporary art and culture, with a focus on activities and developments that show how media pedagogical theory and research are reflected in artistic engagement and how this can be addressed in teaching. Furthermore, it covers contributions at the societal interface between education and politics, with a particular focus on educational policy in relation to media and media policy in relation to education. Finally, it critically reviews new publications and current research works (e.g., in the fields of media pedagogy, media history and theory, literature, film, comics, computer games).
