Digital Classics Online
Digital Classics Online · Germany
Aims & Scope
Digital Classics Online is a free e-journal for authors and users that publishes contributions from the field of Ancient History and related areas of Classical Studies in connection with the application or development of methods from the Digital Humanities. All articles of the e-journal are made freely available under the Open Access principle under a CC-BY license chosen by the authors themselves. The software used is Open Journal Systems (OJS), which is permanently operated and maintained by the Heidelberg University Library within the framework of Propylaeum - Virtual Library for Classical Studies. Manuscripts (languages: German, English, French, and Italian) can be submitted via our electronic publication system. Contributions from early-career researchers, doctoral students, and results from seminars or workshops conducted collaboratively under the supervision of a researcher are expressly welcome, as are conference papers or their expansion into articles. The quality of submitted manuscripts is checked according to the peer review process. Hosting is provided by the Heidelberg University Library in the context of the Propylaeum subject portal. This ensures sustainable citable archiving as well as the indexing and dissemination of contributions in national and international contexts. The monograph series "Digital Classics Books" was established through hybrid publishing, in which electronic and print publication complement each other. Individual contributions from Digital Classics Online that are expanded into a monograph, or several contributions dedicated to a thematically related topic that are expanded into a thematic volume, can be included in this series. Likewise, qualification theses (doctorates, habilitations) that apply Digital Humanities methods to questions of Classical Studies can be published there. Digital Classics Books also undergo a quality check through a peer review process.
