Aims & Scope
Vivid: Journal of Linguistics and Literature provides a scholarly platform dedicated to exploring the dynamic interplay between language and literature, with a keen focus on advancing knowledge and understanding in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our journal aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and promote impactful research that addresses pressing global challenges while contributing to the advancement of linguistic and literary knowledge. The scope of Vivid encompasses a broad range of topics within the fields of linguistics and literature, including but not limited to: Stylistics and Literary Analysis: Examining the linguistic features, narrative techniques, and rhetorical devices employed in literary texts to explore themes related to identity, representation, social justice, and human rights. Sociolinguistics and Cultural Studies: Investigating the role of language in shaping cultural identities, representations of language diversity in literature, and the impact of societal norms and power structures on linguistic practices. Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication: Exploring the challenges and opportunities of translating literary works across languages and cultures to foster cross-cultural understanding, empathy, and cooperation. Literary Linguistics and Cognitive Poetics: Analyzing the cognitive processes involved in literary reading, examining the ways in which language shapes literary meaning and interpretation, and exploring the interface between linguistics, psychology, and literary studies. Eco-linguistics and Environmental Literature: Investigating the representation of nature, ecology, and environmental issues in literary texts, exploring narratives of environmental sustainability, climate change, and ecological resilience. Through its focus and scope, Vivid aims to contribute to the advancement of sustainable development by addressing a wide range of global challenges outlined in the SDGs, including quality education, reduced inequalities, gender equality, sustainable communities, climate action, and life on land. We welcome original research articles, review papers, theoretical analyses, and critical perspectives that contribute to a deeper understanding of the intricate relationship between language and literature while addressing pressing global issues in alignment with the SDGs.
