Aims & Scope
The Negareh Journal is dedicated to advancing the study and understanding of Iranian and Islamic arts. The main objectives of the journal are as follows: Establishing Self-Reliance: To attain a position of self-assurance and authority within the discourse and practice of Iranian and Islamic arts. Critique of Orientalist Studies: To rigorously analyze and critique research conducted by Orientalist scholars concerning Iranian and Islamic art history. Identifying Cultural Assets: To systematically identify and document the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Iran—spanning its history before Islam, and especially throughout the Islamic and contemporary eras. Promoting Artistic Standing: To effectively articulate and promote the unique status and profound value of Iranian art within the realm of visual arts. Guiding Specialized Research: To steer and direct specialized research in the visual arts in Iran using rigorous, scientific, and academic methodologies. Disseminating Core Thought: To convey the Iranian-Islamic philosophy and thought embedded in art, promote its widespread adoption within the artistic and academic community, and actively prevent the degradation or destruction of artistic ideas and works. Demonstrating Global Influence: To highlight the profound impact of Iranian and Islamic culture and art on the cultures and arts of other nations. Preserving and Defending Identity: To preserve, strengthen, and champion the philosophy and artistic works of Iranian and Islamic arts in the contemporary world. Presenting Foundational Research: To offer scientific research that provides a fundamental understanding of the relationship between Iranian and Islamic thought and the creation of artistic works.
