Aims & Scope
The Journal of Music and Folklore Studies (JMFS) aims to contribute to the production and dissemination of scholarly knowledge through the publication of original, high-quality, and ethically grounded academic studies in the fields of musicology, ethnomusicology, folklore, and interdisciplinary music research. The journal is committed to supporting innovative and methodologically rigorous research that advances academic discussion within its fields of focus. In this context, JMFS publishes scholarly contributions such as original research articles, review studies, critical essays, translations, transcription studies, and academic reviews prepared in accordance with international academic and ethical standards. JMFS further aims to strengthen scholarly communication and intellectual exchange among researchers, scholars, and practitioners at both national and international levels, while fostering the development and global visibility of research in musicology, ethnomusicology, folklore, and interdisciplinary music studies. Through its publications, the journal aspires to establish a distinguished and internationally recognized scholarly profile within the academic community. The Journal of Music and Folklore Studies (JMFS) is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes scholarly studies conducted in accordance with scientific ethics and academic standards in the fields of musicology, ethnomusicology, folklore, and interdisciplinary music studies. The journal welcomes original and innovative research addressing theoretical, historical, cultural, analytical, and interdisciplinary dimensions of music and folklore studies. JMFS particularly encourages studies that contribute to contemporary scholarly discussions, promote intercultural and comparative perspectives, and engage with diverse research methodologies within the humanities and social sciences. In addition to original research articles, the journal also publishes review articles, critical studies, translation studies, transcription-based research, book and media reviews, and scholarly evaluations relevant to the fields of music and folklore. All submissions are evaluated through an independent double-blind peer-review process in accordance with the journal’s editorial principles, publication ethics, and international academic publishing standards.
