Aims & Scope

Science Education Quarterly (SEQ) is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing research and practice in science education at all levels, from primary to post-secondary. The journal serves as a platform for disseminating high-quality, original research that contributes to the understanding and improvement of science teaching and learning worldwide. The primary aims of SEQ are: To publish cutting-edge empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses that shed new light on science education practices, student learning, and teacher professional development. To bridge the gap between educational research and classroom practice by fostering dialogue and collaboration among researchers, educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers. To promote evidence-based practices and innovative teaching methodologies that enhance the quality and effectiveness of science education across diverse contexts. To address issues of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in science education, supporting efforts to broaden participation in science and cultivate scientific literacy for all. SEQ welcomes submissions on a wide range of topics related to science education, including but not limited to: Effective pedagogical strategies and instructional design in science classrooms Integration of educational technologies, digital tools, and online learning environments Authentic assessment methods and data-driven decision-making in science education STEM education, interdisciplinary approaches, and cross-cutting concepts Science curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation Environmental and sustainability education, climate change education, and eco-literacy Preservice and in-service teacher education, professional development, and learning communities Cultural, social, and political dimensions of science education and scientific literacy Formal and informal science learning contexts, including museums, science centres, and outreach programs Submissions to SEQ undergo a rigorous peer review process, ensuring that published articles meet the highest standards of quality, originality, and significance. The journal is committed to timely reviews, rapid publication, and broad dissemination of research findings to maximize their impact on science education theory, research, and practice.
